Community infrastructure levy (CIL)

What is CIL?

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is money paid by developers to the local planning authority (Hambleton District Council) to support local infrastructure that helps communities manage the changes brought about by the development. Bagby and Balk Parish Council gets a proportion of this money.

The money can be used to fund a wide variety of infrastructure including:

  • health facilities
  • parks, green spaces and leisure centres
  • hospitals and other health and social care facilities
  • schools and other educational facilities
  • transport schemes.

In the financial year 2019/20 the council received £1,106.  This, added with unspent CIL monies received in previous years of £3209, gave a total of £4,315 currently held by the Council.

Bagby and Balk PC are currently looking at ways to use this levy within the community and within  the government guidelines.  If you are a resident of Bagby or Balk and you wish to suggest a project or scheme please email Parish Council
